Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This is a good place for lunch the portion was just right and lots of tortillas, the waitress were ok and the restaurant clean and oder free will definitely return.

They have the BEST beef fajitas of anywhere that I have tried. Who would have thought that this place was serving up the most tender, juicy, big bits of beefy goodness on their fajitas. You can also get it on their tacos and burritos. They have great salsa and the queso is average. The waitstaff are usually very attentive and the service is fast. Don't let the truck stop style facade scare you away. Don't forget to order a lemonade while your there. I think there may be coconut or something like that in it. It is delicious.

This is about as cheap as you can eat for a decent sized mexican meal during lunch. When I'm in the area I'm usually working and don't have a ton of time for lunch, but need to set and relax for a bit. Fast food doesn't cut it. The food may not be the best, but it is tasty. Service is prompt and they have free chips and salsa. Can't complain, but wouldn't come here for dinner.

If you HATE spicy food you will LOVE this place. If you eat boiled beef like every day is st. Patrick's day? You will love this place! Though this place is near 2 truck stops I don't imagine it gets many return customers. We know we will steer clear. Truckers beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The place was really clean. But the food is so piss poor it's sad. The portions were tiny while the price was average, so that didnt match. The food was super bland and the beef had all flavor boiled out. The rice was ok, but I cant get over how none of the food actually tasted like mexican food?!?!?!?! How does that happen? No heat or peppers at all in the salsa. It was like a can of chopped tomatoes were poured into Styrofoam! I know it was canned tomatoes because I can still taste the metallic in my mouth. The chips were limp and stale and what was up with the cheese sauce? We threw the chips and salsa out. Got some tamales but have to say, "What mexican place doesnt serve pork tamales?!?" Ya these were total store bought tiny ones that they charge $3 each for, but no pork? Pork is the traditional form. The owner should go on that show where Gordon Ramsey comes in to show you how to cook good food and revamp your "cafe". Too much low quality food. This is not mexican food, it's laughable to say it is. Wow.

I will occasionally dine here when passing through. I like the Horchata mostly. So far no complaints on the food though. Fast and friendly service.

I had a previous rating that was great because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill. After being a long time patron, I finally decided not to eat here anymore. The food really is delicious, but I can find good enough food elsewhere.

Wow...first 1 star rating I've ever given. Bought a Groupon for this place. You'd think they would have a Groupon if their food was really good but they got slow traffic and wanted to bring in more business...you'd think they were having a going out of business food giveaway. Some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had. The restaurant was old and dingy looking, like someone slapped some pink and yellow paint onto an old McDonald's. I ordered some kind of enchilada platter and they brought it out 5 minutes later. I'm all for having food served fast, but not microwave fast. This food was gross. Straight out of the microwave. The tortillas were rubbery and the sauce was disgusting. Tasted like the chicken came from a can. I will not be back.

Food (3), staff (4), facility (3), time (3) this place runs hot-cold on quality and service. Food could use some chilies! Plates are full so good value for your money.

This place has excellent food. The spinach enchiladas are amazing. And I love the salsa!

Like a run down Chilino's. In fact I believe this is owned by the brother of the owner of Chilino's. The menus are the same, but Ricky's Cafe just doesn't make it the same.

Went here for a quick bite to eat. There was nothing quick about it. Waited close to an hour for the food to arrive, despite there only being a handful of patrons in the restaurant. The food was decent, but when I got the check the price was very high. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're willing to wait and pay heavily for average Mexican food.

Good place to stop for travelers. Love the specials.
